Data Collection

TextEase does NOT collect, transmit, or share any personal data with third parties or our servers. All data remains on your device.

Data Storage

The extension stores the following data locally on your device:

Text Expansions: Your saved text snippets and shortcuts
Settings: Your preferences (theme, triggers, expansion mode)
User Preferences: Interface customization options

Google Sync (Optional)

If you choose to enable Google Sync:

Your expansions are synced to your private Google Drive AppData folder
We access your email and profile for authentication purposes only
No data is sent to our servers or any third party
You can disconnect at any time from the Settings panel

Permissions Explained

storage: To save your expansions and settings locally
activeTab: To insert text expansions on the current page
scripting: To enable text expansion functionality
clipboardRead: To read clipboard content when you paste
identity: For optional Google account authentication

Third-Party Services

When using Google Sync, we use Google's OAuth 2.0 and Drive API. Please refer to Google's Privacy Policy for their data handling practices.

Data Security

All data is stored locally using Chrome's secure storage API. When using Google Sync, data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS).

Your Rights

You have complete control over your data:

Export your data anytime using the Export button
Delete all data using Factory Reset
Disconnect Google Sync to remove cloud backups

Children's Privacy

TextEase does not knowingly collect data from children under 13. The extension is suitable for all ages.
